Sussex Ramblers Give Christmas Cobwebs the Boot with a Festival of Winter Walks
20th December, 2009
Ramblers Festival of Winter Walks 26 Dec to 03 Jan - OVER 30 WALKS IN SUSSEX
This Christmas the Sussex will host over seasonal strolls as part of Britain's biggest walking fiesta; the Ramblers Festival of Winter Walks.
This year the festival will run from Boxing Day until the 3rd January 2010. Over 800 walks will take place across Britain that are fun, free, open to all, and for the vast part family-friendly.
Since the festival began 21 years ago, thousands of people have been lured off their sofas to make friends and embrace the chilly delights of Britain in the heart of winter with a hearty walk. This winter the festival will tempt more than 17,000 people to go walking in Britain's winter wonderland.
The Festival is supported by TV presenter and keen walker Ben Fogle. Ben Fogle comments:
Walking is a perfect way to escape and unwind after a hectic Christmas. There are hundreds of beautiful routes around the South East of England; what better way to introduce yourself to the delights of walking than stepping out in the crisp air of a winter's day on a free, festive Winter Walks stroll?
You don't have to be a member of the Ramblers to take part in the festival, but anyone who attends a walk and wants to join will receive a 20 per cent discount off membership. And at just £29.50 a year it's a lot cheaper than joining a gym!
